FIREWORKS, LIVE MUSIC, ENTERTAINMENT.

The Urunga~Mylestom Chamber of Commerce will hold the  23rd annual CAROLS Urunga, a free community event, commencing at 5.00pm on Saturday 16th December, 2017,  and hopefully the weather will be just perfect for relaxing, singing and watching the magnificent fireworks at 9.00pm.

The Best CAROLS Urunga Ever!/All I Want For Christmas is CAROLS Urunga. Could it be even better than previous years…??

Love Urunga…!!

CAROLS Urunga now hosts an audience of some 5,000 and is staged in the beautiful natural amphitheatre of Urunga’s Morgo Street Reserve, with a stunning twin-river-view backdrop!  Building on the traditions of family celebration at this auspicious time of year, the event has now also evolved into a concert of excellent music.

The sub-committee will begin planning the evening’s program early in 2017!  The musicians will again include some oSwingfonia jazz choirf the best in the area as well as further afield, and the program will feature many traditional carols as well as Christmas songs and other special musical items.  Again, this will be an eclectic group of excellent musicians, who donate time from their busy lives to create some musical magic for CAROLS Urunga 2017.

[Please excuse the 2016 poster –
the new one will be up in due course…!!]

Everyone will be encouraged to join in with the community carols, “The lyrics will hopefully be again printed in a pull-out section of the Courier Sun the week before, so there’s no excuse not to sing along!”.
The evening will be one of song, entertainment, food, fireworks and lots of fun for all.
There will be the local NSW Fire & Rescue member’s famous “spinning chocolate wheel” with Christmas hams and meat trays to be won, and there will be other great raffle prizes as well.

Here are some photos from previous events.

To help everyone relax, there will be plenty to eat and drink  (non-alcoholic) on sale.  A barbecue and sausage sizzle is planned, plus a variety of other food and drink stalls from which to purchase a tasty treat for your family to enjoy on the night.  But, feel free to bring your own picnic – and a rug/chair to sit on.

A real winner for the children is the varied novelty toys that flash brilliant colors, all available for purchase on the night.  Sales of these help raise funds for the Chamber so we can continue to present this brilliant night.

We encourage everyone to have their singing voices ready as all the performers love to hear the 5,000-strong crowd join in with them singing their favourite carols.  It’s always brilliant to see the many children dress up for the occasion.

The arrival of Santa, all the way from the North Pole, always brings much excitement.

And of course there’s the Grand Finale Fireworks Display, a spectacular pyrotechnics display that illuminates the sky and reflects across the water where the rivers meet the sea.  The firework display is certainly a fantastic way to conclude this much loved community event and to herald the festive season! at 9pm over the river completes a wonderful evening.

Children from both of Urunga’s Pre-schools, and the Urunga Public School, will hopefully be invited to perform again.

Also planned to appear will be a fine ensemble of local and visiting performers of a calibre at least equal to the last few years.

The MC for the night will be announced in due course (didn’t the ever-popular Linda Robertson – do such a great job for the 2016event…??

As noted above, the venue is the performance stage in the Morgo Street Reserve, and a big crowd is expected so be early for the best position.  Bring a picnic rug or chair to ensure you are comfortable whilst enjoying the entertainment.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar – Saturday 16th December 2017 5pm – CAROLS Urunga – by the River Foreshore at Morgo Street Reserve.

In the – hopefully unlikely – event of rain, please contact Steve Allan 0408 613 967 or Debbie Rose 0413 604 881.

The Urunga~Mylestom Chamber of Commerce hopes you will all enjoy CAROLS Urunga on Saturday 16th December 2017, from 5pm.  CAROLS Urunga by the river fosters great community spirit and continues to provide a wide variety of entertainment and fun for all.  Local sponsors and volunteers play a major role in its staging and many thanks to them all for their ongoing support in making this night an integral part of Christmas in the Bellingen Shire.
