THREE EVENTS IN ONE!
For the keen swimmers, the water is still warm, and the course is exciting! Swim out to the barge boat, downstream about 100 metres around a buoy on the eastern side of the railway bridge and back along the front of Anchors Wharf Café. Either turn left into the beach for a rest or to tag the next swimmer in your team: or if you’ve entered the ‘Blue Ribbon’ Event, turn right, swim around the first buoy, and down to the buoy on the eastern side of the railway bridge and return. You can complete as many laps as you like. There are life savers and assistants on these boats and in the water. Your laps will be counted by them, and they’re there to help if needed. The person who completes the most laps wins the ‘Blue Ribbon’ event!
Each lap you swim constitutes $10 from keen sponsors willing to pay for your efforts!
This event is for those who like a slower pace taking in the scenery, yet still contributing a big part to the fundraising event. The walkers will leave Lions Park by way of the stairs up to the bridge, turn right and walk north along the footpath to the other side, down the steps where you’ll receive a pin from one of the Marshals, return by way of the stairs, turn left and walk south along the bridge till you reach the stairs on the southside, come down the stairs to the Marshalling area, hand in your pin to say you’ve complete your lap, tag team a mate, or sit, have a rest and get ready for the next lap. The person who completes the most walking laps wins the ‘Walkers’ event!

This 3 kilometre course leaves from the Marshalling area, up the stairs, left at the top onto Giinagay Way. Travel south to the Kalang River Motel and turn left at Ferry/Fitzroy Street. Run along the downward path and back up to the Railway bridge. Run left over the railway and travel left on to Bowra street. Keep running to Coopers Lane, turn left and run along this lane to the end and exit on the footpath of Bellingen Street, turn left and run west until you’re across the road from the Lions Park marshalling area. Wait for the Marshalls to signal ‘OK to cross’ in the event of traffic. Report back to the Registration table before taking off on your next run lap, walk or swim. The person who completes the most running laps wins the ‘Runners’ event!
