About Planet Lighting

Planet Lighting in Bellingen is an Australian manufacturing success story. The Planet Lighting design tradition heralds back to the early 1900s, when founder WA Iggulden set up Bentley Manufacturing Company in Melbourne. Having weathered the great depression, a lighting division called Planet Products was established by the founder’s two sons, W.P. and J.M. Iggulden. Along came design innovation in lighting, and that tradition has never stopped. From designing and supplying lights to the Starbucks chain, illuminating Sydney for Vivid to this year lighting up the Olympic Village in Paris with its world class LED puck lighting systems, Planet Lighting is as comfortable on the world stage as it is in the Bellingen Shire. And there has always been an Iggulden at the helm!

A Global Stage for Local Ingenuity

The journey to the Olympic Village began right here in regional NSW. Each of the 1600 red and amber LED pucks that now illuminate the Olympic ramps and village pathways was meticulously designed and manufactured by our talented team. The helical ramp, a symbolic focal point for the athletes’ village, is now adorned with these lights, creating a breathtaking display that symbolises the spirit of the Games. The ramp represents inclusion and community, physically connecting the upper part of the Olympic square to the banks of the Seine, while the lights themselves, each individually wired for precise control, add another layer of meaning, signifying a lasting legacy of innovation and collaboration.
